In honor of this afternoon's City Council vote to remove all remaining minimum parking requirements in Portland, OR, a text exchange from two colleagues on the subject.

As this quick text exchange shows, it’s quite likely that the parking structures for the Lloyd Center Mall contain significantly more square footage than the actual Lloyd Center Mall itself.

Officially, as of this afternoon, the City of Portland has legally removed all remaining minimum parking requirements.

Meaning, absolutely none of that structured parking space is legally required for the continuing operation of the mall property.
